Moving over from Livejournal

I’m finally moving over from Livejournal, after 2 decades. Although Dreamwidth is not as robust, it’s all that seems to be left out there of this sort of sevice.

LJ began in San Francisco as a robust journaling and blogging platform. Used to be that none in the world could sign up and use it to post content. It was sold to an investor from Georgia (USSR), and the servers were then moved to Ukraine. Aside from being blocked for using VPN and Ad Blocker, the browser I’m using seems to be under fire for built in VPN among other glitches. Over time the Sber ID Russian bank gained possession of the platform to monetize it. It slowly became a Russian Fakebook. As of 2018, the platform no longer accepted foreign currency for account upgrades, and now only allows registration using Sber ID government bank ID. This means, the government owns you and knows where you live, so you better behave. Anyway, the older grandfathered accounts lost traction with the new identity and are slowly becoming ostracized by the platform, ie. Russians only. And it is now a gated community, to which I no longer feel welcome. So, I’m moving over to post my thoughts and interests on art, poetry and music.

I noticed that I could not comment on your posts over on LJ.

this happened to numerous bloggers
we were told to change settings to cyrillic in profile/settings/display
the setting is at the bottom
then it allows most comments but it's buggy, it blocks some
also LJ now falls under Russian jurisdiction and is being blocked in some countries
i found that my own pages were being blocked from me in some cases
WTF

hi, i finally made the move over to dreamwidth
getting used to the new platform glitches
LJ is now wholly russian under russian government jurisdiction
that requires the Sber ID government bank digital identity to pay in ruples
and register your identity to update or play
