I've been dancing around coming to Dreamwidth permanently for 10 years now off and on.
Well, this may be the last straw !!
*WTF is Going On?
I was just blocked from my new post on LJ. So I wanted to send an email to tech support to ask why?
When I went to my yahoo acct with which I signed up here on LJ, it wanted authorization verification by using the 6 digit code it sent to my gmail.
When I went to my gmail acct which I use for back up authentification it too wanted authorization verification with the 6 digit code it sent to my yahoo acct.
So, what do you call this? Mexican stand-off. Both request authorization, both are blocking me from viewing either 6 digit code, so both emails are suddenly unaccessible to me.
I went back to my LJ account to see if I am locked out, yet apparently not from existing posts, only from new posts pending. The post that LJ blocked from me was dated to post on Friday. It was a future dated post for Friday for this exact shite I am experiencing. Yesterday I experienced being blocked from comments on Russian posts. So I might as well state what's happening here, in case the whole thing goes dark and I no longer have access to that LJ content.

Maybe there is a professional account level for Russian customers to increase content integrity and protect it from spam?
I'm not spam, but I am an unpaid user. Always have been. I don't try to sell anything. Just use it for personal journaling for music art and poetry.
Nor do I barter in Hitcoins
Maybe that's what the change in rules alluded to.
I read it, but nothing it said concerned me except for being made undesirable because of unpaid content?
I don't know. it's still a mystery, but my spidey senses are tingling..

I believe Russia has just implemented digital ID such as in China did, and American Youtube, etc.

Russia has had digital ID for a long time now.
There's a government website where almost everyone is registered. It allows you to access many services digitally, remotely: pay taxes, get certificates, make doctor's appointments...
SberID is just one of them; it's a bank first and foremost, and they also have ID.
The changes to LiveJournal don't directly affect some, but if my friends can't comment on my posts, that's just plain wrong!

I find less and less use for Youtube
I might just focus my time on bandcamp for music,
maybe even post my voice poetry for sale
I've been on LJ since 2006 without a hitch.
If this persists, I'm going to have to abandon all hope
and go find someplace else to play, but where?
Is the computer even worth using anymore?
A year and soon it becomes outmoded and we need to update systems
This feels like the old world is coming to an end

Anyway, I like LJ
It allows me to keep track of many things
It is a true journal for some of us

Date: 2026-01-11 08:21 pm (UTC)I can't use VKontakte - it works poorly, or rather, it only works occasionally. I never liked Facebook, and there are only a handful left there too - those who still use a VPN. I'm slowly moving to Telegram. It's still alive, but it wasn't really designed for texts.
But overall, the trend is clear. The solution seems to be controlling social life on the Internet. And there are two options: accept it, or completely retreat to reality.
